Shoulders

There's a song by a group called For King and Country called, "Shoulders." It has a pretty sound and the singers are great, of course, but the words are what really stand out. And that's saying a lot coming from me because usually I don't even hear words, I only hear music/rhythm! Here are some of the lyrics:

When confusion's my companion
and despair holds me for ransom
I will feel no fear
I know that You are near

When I'm caught deep in the valley
with chaos for my company
I find my comfort here
'Cause I know that You are near

My help comes from You
You're right here pulling me through
You carry my weakness, my sickness, my brokenness
all on Your shoulders, Your shoulders

My help comes from You
You are my rest, my rescue
I don't have to see to believe
that You're lifting me up
on Your shoulders, Your shoulders

You mend what once was shattered
and You turn my tears to laughter
Your forgiveness is my fortress
oh, Your mercy is relentless

My help comes from You
You're right here pulling me through
You carry my weakness, my sickness, my brokenness
all on Your shoulders, Your shoulders

My help comes from You
You are my rest, my rescue
I don't have to see to believe
that You're lifting me up
on Your shoulders, Your shoulders

Grandparents Day

Last Tuesday was Grandparents Day at preschool. Hadley's room didn't participate, so she had no idea four of her five grandmothers were in the same building with her during lunch time. But they were aware! Luckily, Thanksgiving is this week so all will be well!

Collins was so proud to have these four ladies as his dates for lunch. He made each of them a card that said, "I love you" and had his name on the back. I cut them out so they would fit in his back pocket without having to bend them.

He also wanted to dress "handsome" for the day. I held up some shorts and a shirt the night before and asked what he thought. "No, I want to wear a handsome shirt." I tried again. He looked at me as he was brushing his teeth and said, "I'll show you when I get in there." He ended up wearing the polo you can see below, nice jeans, cowboy boots, and his belt with a big belt buckle :)

The kids sang a few Thanksgiving songs before lunch was served, then they all enjoyed Chick-fil-A. So thankful these grandmothers were able to make the trip together!

Halloween!

Optimus Prime and Minnie Mouse, ready for the nasty weather and candy!

My view :)

Our neighbors across the street take Halloween very seriously.

Minnie decided being held was better than walking. She's getting pretty heavy!

Our neighbor, Mrs. Kat!

Hadley was both terrified and amazed by these cats. She still asks about them and will reassure herself, "It's just decca-way-shun; it's not sca-wee" :)

Hadley and I came back to the house after about 30 minutes and increased rainfall.

Handing out candy is just as much fun!

Enough of this, where's my milk?

Poor Jake. But at least he got a "light savior."

We went to Paige and JB's (neighbors) after we got dried off and had supper. Hadley loved this singing/dancing Mickey!

My cousin, Amanda's, two boys: Davis and Hudson. Davis is waiting on a heart transplant, so he was the Tin Man. Sweet babies in need of a lot of prayer.

Pumpkin Carving and Professional Trick-or-Treating

Collins was so excited to carve his pumpkin this year. He couldn't understand why we needed to wait to closer to Halloween so that it wouldn't rot (he has now seen evidence of why this is important!) We looked at Pinterest to get ideas of a "spooky" pumpkin and he chose one that fit the bill. I drew it...that's my contribution.

"Ewwwww!"

Hadley had enough of the pumpkin...on to suckers.

The Friday before Halloween, Amy, Amanda, and I decided we should have a Career Center trick-or-treat party as an excuse to see each others' kids all decked out! Savannah (former co-worker) brought her baby, too. I have a feeling this may turn into an annual thing!

We had Halloween Costume Day at preschool that Wednesday, so my kids were in their typical Friday clothes!

Sunglasses increase your confidence.

Andrew was a gnome!

Peter :)

Hadley trying to be be happy.

The clown being a clown!

Playing with Mary Loyd's witch wig!

Sweet Layla! She was all about Collins that day!

When we left Collins told me, "I think Layla wants me to be her daddy." Because she wanted him to pick her up :)

He likes to tote people.
