The Great Aunts' Visit

Nanny and Aunt Janis came to visit on 10.19, the day Collins turned four weeks old! They love him and he loves them :)

Night Time

I'm afraid of it. Nights make me so very anxious because Collins is fussy and fights sleep. I hear this will eventually pass, but sometimes it seems like it will never get better. Every night is different and I never know how long a nap will last. I don't want Jake to lose sleep b/c he drives for a living and needs to be as rested as possible. My mom, Jake's mom, and my sister have been here a lot and have helped a ton. I know I need the sleep and appreciate the help, but wonder if it kinda messes me up more to have different people doing different things (?) Kind of confusing to determine what works that way. But I'm not complaining! Collins is one month old today (went by fast but seems like forever ago that I was in the hospital with him). I don't know whether to look forward to 6 weeks (Mom said I slept through the night at that point and lots of people swear that's a magical time), or nervous about it (others say that's when fussiness peaks). If you're reading this and care to say a prayer for restfulness and confidence that would be wonderful!

Cool Aunt

Aunt Haylee came from NYC to visit from 10/16 through 10/21. She was a HUGE help. I really didn't expect her to be and neither did she. She's not exactly the baby type, but she took to it like a fish to water. Even calmed him during his fussy time by dancing with him. I tried to upload a hilarious video, but it didn't work :( She also cleaned, did laundry, and cooked gourmet meals for us. I was impressed and really, really didn't want her to leave. She could just live here and be the hot nanny :) Collins loves his aunt! Thank you SO MUCH, Gissy!!!

Strollin'...10.10.10

First Outing

First outing on 10.5.10 (two weeks old) to Downtown Baby to see Mrs. Krystal and buy a wipes warmer. Collins' favorite store :) Mrs. Krystal was the first person I told I was pregnant! She was a stranger at the time and I was looking for some sort of small gift to give my parents to announce our pregnancy.

Right Now

My new favorite thing about Collins right now is that sometimes after he burps or gets changed (or something else that makes him tired), I'll pick him up and he'll act like he's about to yawn, but instead lets out a little "ohhh...." It is so sweet!

We took his newborn pics yesterday (and a few today)! Haley and Kyle came to stay with us and while Jake and Kyle were working, Haley and I had a photo session with Collins. He was not too happy with us. Pee'd on us twice. But that's okay; I think we got some good shots.

Today at 2pm was Collins' first doctor's appointment. It went really well and he was so good! Jake and I were not looking forward to it because of how the heel pricking went last time. Drawing blood via i.v. is much, much better as it turns out. Collins had gained up to 8 lbs 11 oz and is now 20 1/2 inches long. We tried to get Jake a flu shot while we were on campus, but the wait was too long for us and it was about time for Collins to eat, so we took off.

Night time is getting better. I've been sleeping on the couch and C in the pack-n-play. After the middle feeding is when I don't rest well. Collins sleeps, but makes grunting sounds like he's about to wake up any second, so I barely nap. But maybe that will get better soon.

MawMaw and PawPaw are here this weekend. Grammy and Papa came last weekend, and Aunt Haylee gets here this coming Thursday! It's been really great to have people here. I thought I'd be tired of company at this point, but so far that hasn't happened at all. I love the help! :)

No picture b/c i haven't put the newer ones on the computer yet. I take at least one or two pics a day. Wonder if that will ever change?

Gonna go to bed now. Night!
