Hadley Happenings

  • I've mentioned before that we're big Wizard of Oz fans. Hadley's most fascinated with the Wicked Witch ("dat green wicked witch"). One night I was eating some mashed potatoes and had put cheese on them. I convinced her to try a bite and she asked, "Where's the cheese?" I told her the cheese had melted. She said, "Like dat wicked witch." Yep!
  • One night she walked into the living room after playing in her room, wearing her pjs, a cowboy hat, and holding Collins' tackle box. She walked steadily past us and said, "I'm going home."
  • We have a friend at the ball field named Lizzie. But Hadley calls her Lucy. Every time.

Celebrating Mommy's birthday!

The perks of living in a neighborhood where the ice cream truck visits!

  • On the ride home one evening Hadley told me she saw bad guys. I figured out she was referring to the Marines on a bill board. I said, "No, those aren't bad guys. They fight for our country; they're heroes!" Looking at them out the window she says, "Good job!"
  • As I was getting her dressed for bed one night I asked, "Who are you gonna marry one day?" (Not sure why I brought this up...) Her response: "Anybody!"

I have actually already blocked this moment from my memory.

And this one.

annnnddd....another

Another haircut from Mrs. Amber!

  • Again, she's a little obsessed with bad guys. "I not gonna kill you; I a nice bad-duy!"
  • The bad guys she's most talked about lately are Callaghan (from Big Hero 6) and King Herod!

  • Randomly asks me while I'm driving: "Mama, whatchu doin'?" I say, "I'm driving this car; whatchu doin', Hadley?" She says, "I in da driver's seat."
  • Also asks while in the car, "What you driving on?" She can't see the road and is convinced I'm driving on the grass!
  • Calls Gatorade "Gatorador"

  • Gently offers up, "I'm disappointed" while in the car one evening. It appeared she did not totally understand the meaning. :)
  • "It mida-be..." (It might be)
  • Has been biting her nails lately, simply because her brother's struggling with the same thing.
  • Told me my name was: "Mama Goodin Tiffany"

At baseball practice in the gym!

  • When I fuss at the kids for fighting, arguing, touching, whatever in the car, Hadley almost always follows up with, "Even me??"
  • "I want pink nips" (pink lips) (every morning)

Wearing "pink nips"!

There may be a little resemblance.

  • "Can you buckle me out, Collins?" when we're parked and getting out of the car :)
  • "Make me a BIG chee-leader!" (wants to be picked up high)

Reading to Baby Lucy

At the River Market with Grammy!

  • Almost every morning when I go in to sweetly wake her up, she kicks her feet and is super sassy while whining, "I want Daddy to get me up!" I tell her I'm going to get her milk ready and that she needs to get nice while I do that. Sometimes she does and sometimes she gets "sad" before moving toward happy. I don't touch her till she's all the way happy. ;)
  • To state the obvious, she's a daddy's girl. (But loves her mama too when it's not first thing in the morning).
  • She sleeps with a slew of babies and stuffed animals. The whole family searches for the specific ones she's missing each night.
  • While we're still on the sleep topic, the way I currently get her to lay down and not call out is by pretending she's "Baby Tensley." She pretends she's Tensley all the time, so I just use it to my advantage at night time and say, "Everybody at the ball field, shhhh! Baby Tensley is asleep; do not wake her up!" Works amazingly well.

Hadley and Tensley! Excuse me, Tensley and Tensley ;)

She had just picked up a handful of ants and gotten bitten all over her little hand :( MawMaw rocked her and PawPaw gave her a penny to hold on her bites, and that combination put her right to sleep!

Wearing her daddy's first t-ball shirt!

Miss Caroline babysat Hadley one evening when I had to work late and Collins/Jake had a ballgame. They were going to try for Summer Snow, but the line was too long and they went to Steel City Pops instead. Hadley didn't mind!

  • During one of Grammy and Poppa's visits, Jake and I went to pick up dinner for everybody while they watched the kids. When we got home we learned that Hadley dunked her kitty cat toy in the toilet. We washed it and the next day we were talking about it again. Hadley reiterated, "Kitty does not go in the toilet....we don't do that sometimes!"
  • She tells me what songs to sing each night and absolutely loves "Victory in Jesus!" She'll tell me (or Jake or anybody singing it), "Sing it LOUD!" One night she wanted me to sing, "pfft." I said, "What??" "Sing 'pfft.'" I figured out she was referring to when I beat-box for her! haha!
  • Grammy taught her the "Star light, star bright" rhyme the other night at the ball field. At the end Grammy said, "Okay, make a wish, Hadley!" H said, "I wish I didn't throw a fit."
  • One night last week I tried on a dress I've already bought and walked into the living room for approval from my 5 and 2 year olds (Jake was out of town). Collins loved it: "Mama, it's so pretty; you make my eyes water you're so pretty!" (precious boy!) I turned to Hadley and said, "What do you think?" She grimaced and said, "You make my eyes water." I said, "Do you like this dress?" "No." "What do you not like about it?" "I don't like it." So, Collins is my favorite child ;)

Hadley and "La La" right after I dropped her off one morning. Love her sweet teachers!

  • I registered Hadley for dance class in June! She loves music and loves dancing, but mostly this is for me to get to see her in a tu-tu.
  • What a sweet baby girl she is. We love her so, so much!!

Easter

Yay for the Easter Bunny!

Chocolate bunnies at 6am :)

Series of awkward poses...

The wait!

We did our egg hunt inside at about 6pm...but it was fun!

This is laughing, not throwing a fit!

Please notice how Hadley's hair is progressively getting bigger and wilder...

The hair at it's peak.
