Little Footsteps

Maybe it's because we're approaching Collins' fifth birthday and that seems incredibly impossible to me, but I've been pretty sentimental lately regarding my babies.

If you happen to have attended our wedding, you'll remember a song called "Blessings" that was written and performed by my sister (and her friend Ellie). I love that song for so many different reasons. Haylee, I don't mean to bug you, but I'm really gonna need an updated recording of that. Or at least the lyrics written down again. Sadly, I lost the ones she had handwritten for that night :(

I remember during the performance of the song at our wedding hearing this one particular part that made me cry even then:

Through the years we'll have
Good and bad times, because the
Good Lord giveth, and well, He
Taketh away

And when our world revolves around
Little footsteps that get
Heavier and heavier
Until they just fade away...

Oh man. I can hear that very thing happening. Every time Hadley's sweet little fat, flat feet pitter patter into the kitchen I think about this song and how fast they are both growing.

Did I wish away the baby years thinking about how much I wanted to sleep again and have time to myself and with Jake? Because now they both sleep great. And go for weekends in Mississippi. And time just won't slow down.

Splashing at Grammy's

All the Goodin cousins got to play together at Grammy's house a couple of weekends ago (June 13th)! Grammy said she'd been wanting to put them in that old sink for years, so we finally did it.

The bubbles didn't cooperate as much as we wanted, but the kids had fun anyway and the pictures turned out cute. The very second all kids were out of the water it started thundering and lightning...whew!

The first pics are the edited ones ;)

Not sure if this is pouting, trying to blow bubbles, or a combination of the two.

Making mud pies!

First CHOM Visit

A few weekends ago Daddy and Collins had plans to work in the yard and in the garden, so Hadley and I decided to have a girls day out of the house. Because otherwise she'd have wanted to be outside with them and it is just too hot for me.

We went to Deja Vu consignment store to drop off some stuff, but got there and realized it didn't open till 11am. I decided we'd have an early lunch in Midtown Village at Chicken Salad Chick. Hadley loves chicken salad! (And salad for that matter.) She actually fell asleep in the car so we sat in the parking lot for a few minutes to let her get a better nap.

After lunch we went to the Children's Hands On Museum downtown. This was her first time there and she really enjoyed it (especially the hospital/nursery part)! I am still shocked we somehow managed to leave without a fit. How did I do that?

Then we swung back by Deja Vu and got that done before heading back home. It was a fun day with my sweet baby girl!

P.S. Collins has no idea we went to CHOM without him, so shhhh....

I hate that this pic is so blurry. Soon I hope to get a new phone that takes better pictures!

End of T-ball Season

Baseball season ended last month. We had a tournament and I think (hard to remember!) we came in third place. The Indians did a great job in the tournament! Collins actually got his first home run on the one night I couldn't be there :( But luckily, he did it again the next night! That was on May 14th and 15th. So proud of him!

Coach Ryland and Mrs. Terri had all the coaches and their families over to their house one night before the tournament to thank us. We really should have been thanking them! They had sandwiches and the kids got to play in their awesome back yard, complete with a cool, custom tree house, zip line (even a seat attachment so Hadley could play!), and baby rabbits. They had a blast!

On May 22nd we (all the parents) held a celebration banquet at Verner Elementary playground. Yet another awesome playground and I never even knew I had access to it! Shaded and everything...awesome. Anyway, one of the dads grilled hotdogs, we had chips, and one of the moms (also the team photographer...multi-talented woman!) made a cake and cupcakes. Every player received a trophy and an explanation about what the coaches appreciated about them. Collins and Braden both got a trophy for MVP! That boy was pumped to get his very own, first trophy :)

I'm so thankful Collins' first baseball experience was a good one. The coaches and parents really made it wonderful. Go Indians!
