Bama and Big Al Birthday Party

Hadley's friend from church and school, Reagan, (and her little brother, Weston) had their birthday parties recently and it was a Bama celebration. Big Al made a surprise appearance and made their day!

Reagan helped Had with her temporary tattoo! Well, and then I had to fix it :)

Wax Museum_Henry Ford

Collins chose to portray Henry Ford in the second grade Wax Museum of Famous Americans! We pulled together his costume with the help of Mrs. Anna (let us borrow the hat) and the Salvation Army (blazer)! He wore one of his daddy's ties. Collins worked really hard on the timeline he had to do, which he used to help write his speech. They didn't have to memorize their speeches, but he did anyway. He did a great job, as did all the kids! We were really impressed.

Talon as Abe Lincoln!

They were all frozen until you pushed the button on their hand, then they told about themselves and went right back to being statues. They were all totally in character!

Maggie Leigh!

Caroline :) That was a dress her great-grandmother made and that her mom wore when she was little!

The work leading up to the big day:

Dance Pictures

And...after the book parade and daddy/daughter dance came jury duty for me (briefly...I didn't get picked because they settled out of court), followed by our first dance pictures! I had to arrange for Jake to pick up Hadley and for Beth to come over and help with makeup, hair, etc., but none of that had to happen because I got out of court in enough time. It was a whirlwind trying to get all that done, and we had tested different curling mechanisms the week before to see what would work for Hadley's hair. Neither of our hair holds curl very well, but they were all supposed to have curls for pictures and recital. We tried two different sets of hot rollers, I've tried a curling wand before (takes forever and doesn't hold well), and she even slept in sponge rollers the night before pics to try and help Beth. When I picked her up from school she had zero curl after those sponge rollers. I decided to try the hot rollers one more time just in case, and it worked! Whew! However, in the 20 minutes it took to change into her second costume for those pictures it had fallen almost all the way out. So, I bought better hairspray for the recital and we're hoping that does the trick!

Practicing for the trapeze, she says!

Miss Morgan practiced poses with them so they'd know what to expect. Cute story...the next day at school was spring pictures. Mrs. Fanning said when it was Hadley's turn she immediately put one hand on her hip and one behind her head! The principal said, "I've been here all day and I haven't seen that yet!" Sweet girl...she was thinking, "I know what to do here; I just did this yesterday!"

Angel baby :)

Daddy/Daughter Dance

The Daddy/Daughter dance (sponsored by Safe Haven Church, and held at Northport Elementary) was on Friday, March 1st. Jake had worked out of town all week, but was scheduled to fly back in to Birmingham on Friday afternoon. He flew home (in the plane and in the truck, I'm sure), changed clothes real quick, and took his princess to the dance. They were late, but she expected that and was okay with it. They missed the dinner, but he took her to Hokkaido afterward, so she was happy! I picked up Collins from baseball practice after they were gone to the dance, and we went to a new (for him) restaurant called Surin (Thai food). It was a good night, but Had was sure tired after all that getting ready and dancing!

I bought and took back several dresses and shoes that week (because no time to take her shopping with me), but it was all worth it!

She hid at first when she heard him come in, but couldn't stand it any longer and had to show him how she looked!

Watching a little Disney Jr. while waiting on Daddy :)
