I have fewer and fewer sayings to document about Collins, it seems. He's still hilarious, so I don't really know why this is.
He is wearing a size 7-8 in most clothes now and a size 2.5 (I think) in shoes. Jake always comments on how big his hands are, and a lot of people tell us he's tall for his age. I really have no idea, so I just say "you think?!"
He says he doesn't like school, but he really doesn't complain too much except when there's "too much homework." Right now he hates to read. He's pretty good at it, but he hates doing it. Which has resulted in me not making him do it enough, which has led to Mrs. Fanning telling me he needs to read more. Oops.
He is a bus rider in the afternoons now because we hired sweet Miss Raegan to come sit for him for a few hours. He hated extended day, and our other friend, Miss Chelsea, gave us some insight on it that helped us make the decision to pull him from the program. I think it's a great program for most people, but once again (like when he was an infant), group care just isn't the right fit for Collins right now.
We have not regretted not playing baseball or football this semester. It's been nice to have a break and he hasn't complained or missed sports one bit.
He's very interested in bugs at the moment. Once he kept a plastic bag full of acorns from my parents' house and, little did I know, that will eventually lead to larvae bugs. Under his dresser. Not many, but still very gross. He also loves to catch crickets and make a "home" for them in the back of Hadley's tricycle. And he has a container full of locust shells in his room.
He also loves, loves, loves to fish. I knew I needed to live on a lakefront property ;)
A few sayings over the last few months:
- "It's a havit" (habit)
- "Chuck-e-cheese-its"
- "The love bugs don't love me" (bugs at Grammy and Poppa's)
- When scolding him and his sister for wrestling too much, "We're just rough...baby"
- "I can't say anything right now" (too sleepy to carry on a conversation with me!)
- Frustrated, riding in the car: "A silly first grader said I'm not old enough." I asked for clarification: "Old enough for what?" His answer: "To go on a date." (oh boy)
- "Mama, you forgot to do our rotation." (devotion)
- "You smell better than boots!" (thanks, son!)
- He went with Jake to get ready for hunting season and Jake had to spray the shooting houses for wasps. Collins cautioned him, "Daddy, you know if one of those gets on your goober...it will damage it"!!
- I told him the story of when I was little and jokingly told Maw one day to get off my property...and she did it! I explained that I was just kidding, but she [pretended] to take me seriously! He laughed and said, "She's a smart old granny!"
- Jake asked him recently why he hung a bag full of rocks on his closet door, and a bag full of old bottles on his door knob. "It's my favorite thing to do in my life..."
- I mentioned Raegan is our babysitter, and has been for about a month or so. Last week Collins saw Jake pay her and he was genuinely shocked that she didn't just come hang out with him out of the goodness of her heart! Had no idea we paid the babysitter.
- He's starting to get embarrassed of us much more frequently. Like when I try to hold his hand or arm, or when Jake tells him to tell somebody hello/Roll Tide/etc. Kinda sad!

| Jake took him to an auction for a work event and Mr. Robert and Collins won a duck. For $200. Mr. Robert has let Collins keep it at his house for a couple of months, and Collins will return it when Mr. Robert's house is finished being renovated. :) |
