Last Day of School!

So long, 4th and 1st grade! These two got out at 11:30 today. Jake picked them up and met me at Buddy's for lunch. They both had their report cards...all As! So, so proud!

She wanted one by herself :)

Class Parties/Field Day!

This is a fun week at school! Yesterday they had class parties. These are not your typical class parties. They had two slides, one was a water slide, games, pizza, etc.! Today is field day where they do obstacle course games outside and have an ice cream truck. Tomorrow is some sort of achievement day, but I don't think it's awards day (?) And Thursday is a half-day/last day of school!

What a year it was. Started virtual, had some days with meeting with teachers for an hour, then half-days of in-person for a while, then all in-person...except for Fridays! It feels like three years in one, but it's memorable, that's for sure! My kids had a great year in terms of teachers and friends. It was not without some struggles, but they overcame all the challenges. I should say, WE overcame the obstacles! And as hard as it was at times, I still think last year was harder. It helped a lot not being quite so thrust into online learning!

After this week I will be back to work full-time, five days a week. My office was gracious to let me still flex some these last two weeks that school was still in session even though UA decided to go back to normal. Today is our first day to be without masks...which really feels normal! I have so enjoyed being home with my babies. I worked part time from January 2018 - July 2019, then moved to GA and didn't work, and then back to UA in May 2020, but worked remotely most of that time. The flexibility and time have been so wonderful and I greatly cherish the time I've had (again, even though some of it was very difficult)! It will be good to get back to normal at work, and I am also very, very grateful to get to return to a job I love so much and to a staff that feels like family.

God is good to me.

Writing summer wishes to each other!

Mrs. Kathryn was at the school and called me to say most in their class were being checked out early. She offered to take Collins home with her and her boys and they got to swim together. Living his best life, that boy!

Field Day! First grade was told to wear green and fourth grade wore purple. Not sure yet which grades won what games!

Baseball Champs!

Collins played his last regular season baseball tournament last weekend in Fultondale. The Knights played four games that day, two in pool play and two in the silver bracket tournament (because they lost the first two). Which means...they are [silver bracket] tournament champs! They beat a team called Top Gun, who beat us in one of the first tourneys of the season. Collins pitched the whole game and only walked two or three batters. He also continued to hold it together and pitch well after getting upset by a 'bad call' at home plate to make the third out of the inning. He didn't slide and is convinced he stepped on the plate, but the umpire said he stepped over the plate. I have to agree...from my angle it looked like he missed it. We still won and my boy learned a big lesson in perseverance! Go Knights!
