Hadley Happenings

  • Hadley had the flu last week, right on the heels of another ear infection. And now she has a double ear infection to top it off :( We have had several nights of no sleep (some of which were while Jake was out of town, naturally), but Jake let me get caught up on sleep this past weekend. She turned 17 months old on 1/25/15. Surely, one day soon she'll start sleeping well consistently?!
  • Has just moved from a size 4 to a size 5 diaper. We tried to move up once before, but she got a little chaffed on her hips!
  • She tee-tee'd in the potty on 1/3/15 and has done so two times after then! Usually, she then tries to stir around the tee-tee with her hand. And lately she's preferred to sit on the potty, then stand up, go over and shut the door (sometimes shuts the door ahead of time, but never forgets it completely), and then tee-tee on the floor. She then makes it look like a very upset cry, but no real tears. I assure her she's done nothing wrong so that I don't mess her up for when it's actually time to potty train, which probably makes her think she should do more floor tee-tees.
  • "I prepuss" (precious)
  • "Pehh Cee" (paci) sometimes "pappy"
  • "Byyye" as Southern as you please!
  • "Ho, ho, ho!"
  • Occasionally, she'll tell us what color something is and she gets it right! Her teacher told me the other day she said blue and pointed to a blue object of some sort. She can say most colors.
  • Loves "Bizz" and "Woo ooo" (Buzz and Woody)
  • "Ta too" (thank you)
  • "Please"
  • "Oh wee!"
  • She likes to shake when she eats like she's trying to telepathically blow up her food. Fists are made, face and neck stretch out, and she vibrates. Teachers say she learned this from the Corder twins in her class who are imitating their vibrating truck or something. Ha!
  • She understands a whole lot more than we realize and will follow commands to our surprise. This morning I said, "We've gotta find your shoes." I then find her sitting on the couch with one shoe on! The wrong shoe and the wrong foot, but still!
  • "Whine, whine, whine!" She's mocking me mocking her ;)
  • "Cold!"
  • Likes to feed herself with a spoon or fork. Is not the biggest fan of someone else doing it. Her appetite is good most of the time, and she eats a great variety of foods. She is just sometimes hard to convince to eat at all. Collins is the same way right now. If only I had that problem.
  • "Bobbie" (Barbie)
  • Favorite songs: "Itsy Bitsy Spider," "Jesus Loves Me," "Time for a Check-up" (Doc McStuffins), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle theme song!, and "Ring Around the Rosey." She still loves music and loves to dance!
  • "Shaw-shaw!" (shower) as she looks up and points to it.

Not feeling well one day, so stayed home from school and ate lunch in the chair. With her little ankles crossed.

Baby Hulk!

Pig tails!

They love to wrestle!

More piggies at school.

Playing at Barnes and Noble one Sunday afternoon. We had to get out of the house so Daddy and Collins could rest...Daddy was sick this day :(

Play Date

For the first time...ever...Lana, Jessica, and I got together with our children...for the MLK holiday on Monday. Lana texted a few days before and it actually worked out that none of us had plans.

We always talk about how we need to get together with the kids, but when the opportunity to see each other arises we just want girl time. I'm so glad our kids got to know each other and spend time together. And I'm so glad I got to finally meet Ethan, see Ford for the third time, and see Lee and Sarah Helen again. But I'm back to needing girl time. Wow, these kiddos have some energy!

My kids and I went to Chicken Salad Chick that morning for the grown-up food. The kiddos ate pb&j. Except for Hadley, she tore up that chicken salad.

Collins told me we needed to get home because our customers might be waiting (guests)!

Jessica brought cookies (and petit fours!) from Edgar's!

Collins and Wolverine (Ethan)

Sarah Helen hung right in with the boys. Hadley was napping during all this play. She was the only one who got a nap that day :)

Sweet little Hulk.

Checking out a worm or something: Collins, Ethan, and Lee.

Ford walking with his mama.

Our human chain! I thought it would be easy to walk to the playground. It's not a bad walk, unless you're four years old. Thankfully, Lana offered to walk back and bring her Traverse for the trip home.

You can see a tiny bit of Jessica's tiny belly in this pic! Due with Baby #3 in about 20 weeks!

I love this picture :)

Collins, Hadley, Sarah Helen, Ford (being blinded), Ethan (doing the blinding), and Lee

At the end of the day...tired mamas! But so much fun. I love these people!

CG Artwork

Most of these are ones Collins painted in his current room (the green room), but some are from last year (the yellow room). I love them. We gave some to family members as part of their Christmas presents, and I have four of them framed in my office. And two framed at home. Abstract art has always been my favorite, I just didn't know I could turn to a four year old with a paintbrush to get them!
