- "Monkey starts with B!"; no, M; "I was close!"
- "It smells like Birthday smoke." (blew out candles)

Set the table!
- "It's so sad Collins has to clean his room all by himself." Why didn’t you help him? "I forgot."
- "This bed is so snuggly and warm...makes me wanna...TALK! Did you know that lime green is a happy color?! Pink is a happy color, too!"
- Loves to sing American songs...both kids are patriotic!

Playing on Mary Loyd's 'monkey bike'!
- Bedtime routine: one book and a spooky story about a witch; lately sometimes just wants to snuggle, but not usually!
- “I cried so much I can’t walk” (made her go to her room for hitting C/no movie for a while). Also, she gets an entire box of tissues and puts it beside her when she's crying sometimes. I guess for added drama.
- “Your breath smells like tennis shoes!”
- Calls Calvary “calorie” in songs!
- "I’m gonna mind so Mama won’t be fed up!"
- One song we sing in the car (CD) says something about "what a hypocrite'll do"...H thinks it's hilarious because to her it sounds like, "Hippo-crittle-doo"!
- "Can you pass forward?" (Fast forward) Spoiled rotten about watching/not watching commercials!
- "That is alarious!" (hilarious)

Not happy that morning...
- I asked if she wanted ketchup on her couscous or beside it: "Literally on it."
- What they play at school: "Colton H. is the dad, Colton M. is the brother, Laityn is the sister, and I’m the baby cheetah of the family."
- Riding to school one morning we were listening to Bible songs and she looked so sweet in her pink outfit and pink heart shaped sunglasses. Until she spoke, out of nowhere: “I want to be on Home Alone with the bad guys, and if they try to hang me on a hook, I’ll use my cheetah powers to knock em off.”
|
Sad because her egg got messed up, but we fixed it at home!
|
Wearing the little jacket Lana's grandmother made for her when she was born :)
- We heard some teens cussing up a storm at McDonald's one night before a baseball game. I tried distracting the kids by talking to them, but there was no way to prevent them from noticing. I told them, "Their mamas would be so disappointed." Collins asked, "What would you do if you were their mama?" I said, "I'd take away the car keys." He said, "You could spank them." I said, "Not if they're that big." Hadley: "You could pinch them...or cut their heads off with a clean shuffle (shovel)." She means business!

Teacher Hadley's not to a parent!

Picture day!

- A song referred to the land of milk and honey. "Milk and honey? That doesn’t sound good to me; I want milk and syrup."
- "I have a track on my foot." (crease from sitting on the bench)
- "We’re gonna spoil eggs later." (dye eggs!)

I think this was Easter egg hunt day at preschool.
- One day she was playing with MawMaw pretending she was shopping for clothes. Her daddy asked her where she was getting all that money from: "From the money from a store in Tuscaloosa called The Money Stack."
- "Will you buy me a phone in college?" I told her yes. "Why?" I told her because I'll want to talk to her and she'll need a phone. She said, "What if I get in trouble from the teacher?" I said, well, that's a good thought; you can take your phone to class with you, but when the teacher's talking you can either put it in your backpack or your purse because you won't need it during class time. "Finger or thumb?" I thought I misunderstood. Louder: "Finger. or. thumb?" I said, "Finger!" "Yep!" (totally changed the subject!)

Playing at Reece's house while brother had batting practice.
|
Jake and Hadley at a rainy baseball game.

The only sister on the whole team! Playing with dice at ball practice with Reece, Mrs. Amber, and Collin.

Zonked out! Riding makes her sleepy :)
- "Pigs are made out of meat, and trees are made out of paper."
- I commented about some brothers at our church: "Pierce and Paul look just alike, don't they?" Hadley: "They do. Except their shoes."
- One day we walked into the house and saw a worm (an ugly one). I thought Hadley would find it interesting so I called her attention to it. Instead, she totally flipped out. Went into the office, got on the floor, and started crying. I thought maybe she'd actually hit her head or something, but no...it was just about worm. She said, "It's disgusting...don’t tell anybody!"

Go Had!
- She thinks what I do at work (still CVS most of the time I ask) is "Make cope-ies." (copies, like what her teachers do in the resource room)
- She plans to change her name to Mary when she grows up. She likes Hadley fine for now, but as a grown up she'll be Mary. (This child is too much like her Aunt Haylee, who changed her name to Shelley her entire kindergarten year...and didn't tell anyone at home until her teacher called 'Shelley Chancellor' up to the stage at kindergarten graduation!)

- Has called the ball field the "nacho town"...that's the reason she goes, after all!

Sleeping Beauty! I could eat her up with a spoon (and I tell her that, and she tells me that!)
- "I took a deep breath in my mind..."
- "Mama...I keep lookin' on the bright side, and takin' a deep breath, but my throat still hurts a little bit." (bless it!)
- "Your hair smells so good...did you put air conditioner in it?"

My precious baby girl.
Hadley is so much fun and so sweet, but also very strong and can be dramatic! She has a tender heart and is perceptive. She rarely gets shy about going in her classroom at school, but sometimes is timid (at first) at church and in other groups. She doesn't care for loud groups most of the time, but prefers playing with friends in small groups. She says she wants to be a mom when she grows up, and lately says "a mom who's a doctor." :) She loves to snuggle and likes to grab our cheeks (mine and Jake's) and say "chuvvy cheeks!" She also likes to play with Jake's beard, which she says is "playable." She weighs about 45 pounds, but I still pick her up and carry her a lot; I know I won't be able to for much longer :( She wears a size 5 or 5T in most things, but can still wear some 4s and some 6s. Her shoe size is 10 or 11. She still takes Zantac twice a day...I so wish she could stop this, but when she doesn't have it and laughs she gets big hiccups and pretty soon starts regurgitating. This semester I've been picking her up around 12:15 or 12:30pm and we go home for a little bit of TV or coloring (and for me to eat), and then most of the time I get her to nap (by lying down with her until she falls asleep...in my bed). On days I have a lot to do or that we go to Aldi after school, we skip nap. She loves to skip nap, but definitely still needs it. Usually, if we skip and then drive somewhere (no matter the distance), that's when she falls asleep in the car! Sometimes I get back home and just leave the car running while she sleeps a little longer. We talk about Heaven a lot. We have big plans for when we get there, including sliding down a mountain, snuggling with a lion, and playing with a baby bird! Some of her favorite movies right now are Boss Baby and Beauty and the Beast, but nothing tops The Greatest Showman! She wants to take dance lessons next year, but is not excited about the idea of a recital. She is VERY excited about going to kindergarten! She's good at brushing her own teeth, getting herself dressed, just overall being a big girl. She loves her brother so much and he adores and protects her, too. She cares a lot about people, and when someone is hurt or bleeding she tries to see how she can help them. She's the most wonderful girl I could have ever picked for a daughter, and I'm so very grateful for her! I tell her all the time (Collins too), "I always wanted you"...and that is absolutely the truth!
