For about a month now (maybe longer?) we've been letting Collins do chores to help him learn the value of earning, saving, spending, and giving money. We're using Financial Peace Junior from Dave Ramsey and really like it! He finally earned about $15 and had some birthday money left over, and has been working toward saving for a metal detector...so he can find money faster than he's able to earn it, perhaps? ;) He was not totally prepared to give away "all but one money" from his wallet (a $20 bill), but we had a talk and he seemed to understand that he'll eventually get more money to put in there.
The Toy Shoppe in downtown Northport is a wonderful place. They didn't carry any metal detectors, but I called them and proposed a favor, and they graciously helped me. They ordered the one I was looking for from Amazon, then allowed us to come in the store and buy it from them (same cost, it only counted as a sale for them). I knew clicking a button on a phone or iPad wouldn't have the same effect for Collins as handing someone cash and getting his item right on the spot, so the fact they were able to accommodate this request is much, much appreciated!

| He also wants a broom his size for Christmas...such a practical boy. |
| They just happened to have one metal detector in the back ;) This is Angela, the lady who helped me conspire. |
| Hadley picked out some things for her Christmas list while we were there. |
| We ate at The Levee after shopping. |
| Practicing! |

| Hadley never fell asleep in her bed for nap time because she was playing so much, but as soon as Daddy got her up she zonked out! |
