Safe Haven Church_Egg Drop

Here comes the Bunny!

Wasn't quick enough to get any eggs, but she got a ride!

I think this little boy's  name is Eli. Collins knows him and I like him because  he shared his eggs with Collins (and Collins gave all his pink eggs to Hadley)!

Hadley spotted Miss Kristin (from preschool)!

Silly!

So proud of herself for sliding down that big slide! (And she didn't do it any more!)

Power pose!

A lip whistle (?!)

What's so hard about this? You just put the rings right on there...

Oh yay, two whistles! ;)

Spin art!

Conversations with Collins

  • He pretty much always goes for the team that's winning; and therefore changes teams midway through a game
  • Worries about bad guys and plans to use a bowling pin or knife to attack them if they come in our house. When I tell him he shouldn't worry about that kind of stuff because he's a kid he tells me, "Well, it does happen to some people."
  • "You can't believe everything you see."

  • Prays for Colin Kaepernick! (reminded when he sees him on a football card)
  • "I don't like those girls; they look evil." (commercial of little girls with dolls everywhere)
  • One night as I was putting him to bed, I gazed into his pretty eyes and said, "Collins, you are so special to me." He replied, "You kinda look like a monster in the dark."
  • Tries to delegate instructions to Hadley (e.g., "Pick up my socks.")
  • "I'm gonna fight for my country when I grow up; but I don't want my head to get shot off."
  • "She looks hufty" (in reference to a character on tv)
  • I like to watch "Say Yes to the Dress" occasionally, and so sometimes my children are exposed to it. One day Collins was in the room while the show was on and I told him how much one of the dresses cost. He said, "That's crazy; it should cost one dollar because it's one dress." Good logic!

Surprised him for lunch one day with CFA. I thought it was unphased by it until he told me that night how much he loved it :)

  • He told us one day he wants to fight in the army. This is a theme.
  • Also loves to watch National Geographic when it's anything about ocean stuff. For a while there we watched "the whale show" pretty frequently!
  • Has started mentioning "hot girls." He and his buddy Mason both say this. Mason's mom asked him what he means by "hot." Mason said, "When she has long hair and wears skirts." Oh my word...
  • Collins sleeps with me when Jake is gone for work. I love it! It means he sometimes is later getting to bed than I'd like, but we do it anyway because I know my days are numbered of him wanting to do that.
  • On nights he doesn't sleep with me, he sometimes gives me stuffed animals to sleep with and lets me choose which ones; doesn't want me to be lonely! (even when Jake is there, ha!)
  • We hear this a lot lately, "When I get 17..." (he thinks 17 is the age of freedom)
  • "Can I go to the extension stand?" (concession stand)
  • One night I found a quarter in his room and pretended I was pulling it from behind his ear. I felt sure he would roll his eyes and never fall for that, but I was wrong! His eyes got huge and he said, "A quarter?! I didn't even put it there! I really didn't!"

His favorite meal in the whole wide world is sausage biscuits at Buddy's!

  • "Earth shake"
  • He's learned some cuss words from the bus (I think it was on the bus). One day he announced he knew the 'F word.' Fortunately, it was 'fart.' Another day he brought it up again and for some reason I asked him to clarify. Only this time it was the other 'f word.' I was able to remain pretty calm, but I died a little on the inside to hear my six-year-old baby say that!
  • "Do you miss Coach Bryant?" haha
  • "I'm thinking I'm gonna have a mustache when I grow up."
  • "Have you noticed something? I haven't been taking a nap anymore!" (Yes, I noticed.)
  • "In-step" (except)
Looking at football and baseball cards!

Eating an ice sickle!

  • Still says "o-most" instead of "almost"!
  • He wears about a size 2 or 2.5 in shoes, a 7/8 in shorts/pants/shirts. I think he weighs about 55 pounds; he's heavy and I can hardly pick him up anymore (but I do it anyway sometimes). Last week he had surgery (again) to have his nose cauterized to help with the nose bleeds.
  • His teacher, Mrs. Fanning, tells us he's good at all subjects and is a helper to other kids (and is patient when trying to teach someone else something. I was impressed!) She said he will struggle when it comes to listening and being taught; when she gets up to teach, he wants to start talking and 'teaching.' She said she doesn't want to squash it because that's a leadership quality, but she'll tell him, "Quiet; it's my turn. You have to learn before you can teach."He tries to negotiate at home still, and has a very hard time taking direction when he's told to do something (or not do something) that doesn't make sense to him. The other night (after surgery), Jake and I both told him he could stay outside and watch Daddy cut grass, but he had to sit; not play. He agreed, but got up to catch crickets. He got scolded about that and cried because he just did not understand why he couldn't catch just one more cricket; then sit down. I get it, but man does that kind of stuff make me nervous for the teen years!
Raegan made him a checker's set!

Standing for the National Anthem during a tv game :)

He now makes his own money.

Loving hummus these days!

  • He is in tune to bullies and doesn't like to see other people get picked on. We try to balance our instructions to stick up for yourself and for people who are getting bullied, without making him think it's okay to start/instigate a fight.
  • He is the sweetest baby boy I ever knew, and I tell him so every day. I am so proud to be his mama!
I think this is actually Sam's picture, but I thought it was sweet!

Collins bought this for me in the cafeteria and brought it home. Bless him! He was convinced I was going to love it. I hated it. But I love the thought! (except we had to discuss using his money for eating not buying gifts and bringing them home!)

Found Mrs. Anna at school one day when she was there registering Luke for kindergarten!
