TWO!

Guess who's TWO today!

On Wednesday night, Collins started running fever while we were at church. We went home early and I checked it: 102.1 :( I just knew he'd caught Jake's virus, but he had no other symptoms besides a runny nose.

Jake took him to the doctor yesterday afternoon and we discovered he has a little bit of an infection in his right ear. Thank goodness! Not that we love ear infections, but we much prefer them over stomach viruses. He got some antibiotics and was fever free this morning! I thought we might have to cancel his party, but it's still on.

He was so sweet this morning. I think he actually understands that today is his birthday. Of course, he'll also think tomorrow is, but that's pretty much the point of a party...it extends your birthday :)

We decorated a little for this morning and served his favorite breakfast (mini "pan-akes") on the birthday plate. I added sprinkles to his pancakes. Jake thinks that was a mistake, but whatever. It looked fun.

Collins is staying with Mr. Joe and Mrs. Wilda today. I'm glad because he probably still doesn't feel 100% great, but a little sad b/c we'd planned to have cupcakes at preschool today. No worries...the birthday will be extended even longer!

What a great second year it has been. I can't wait for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. because he is SO FUN right now!

Jalapeno's for dinner with Grammy and Poppa!

Love this look of uncertainty!

Some things about our two year old:

  • Weighs 29.5 pounds!
  • Still cries every single morning at preschool, but has fun once I leave
  • Wears about a 3T in t-shirts and shorts; some things are still 2T; size 5 diaper
  • Recently learned he can climb on the counter in the bathroom if he gets on his stool and uses the faucet to pull himself up; oh Lordy...
  • Loves to do things by himself, such as feed himself, brush his teeth and hair, buckle himself in his highchair and car seat, etc.
  • Likes to sing his favorite songs: "Whole World," "Knee, Knee, Clap" (a version of "Jesus Loves Me"), I Love You, a Bushel and a Peck," "Tootie Ta," "You Are My Sunshine
  • Loves to snuggle in the chair with his mommy at bedtime!
  • Looking at "Clipperd" (Clifford) when we go by the art gallery in Downtown Northport in the mornings. He gets SO excited to see him!

Recent quotes:

  • Collins: "Daddy Pae Pus" (Daddy's peppers), "Eat, Daddy, eat Pae pus!" Jake: "No, Collins, I don't want to eat them right now; they're hot!" Collins: "Blow it!" (duh!)
  • Collins: "Daddy truck...ride?" Jake: "No, Daddy's truck is dirty right now." Collins: "Wash it!" (again I say, duh!)
  • "Mii Anna house" (Mrs. Anna's house; he thinks she lives at preschool)
  • When we try to get him to say Meri Davis (instead of Debba Dabis), he sometimes says, "Meri Debba Dabis"!
  • "Mulch!" (Mulch from the playground gets in his shoes sometimes and hurts his feet. This prompted a new pair of tennis shoes, which he now wears every day.)
  • "Lucy!" His favorite friend at the moment. He knows everyone in his class! He just talks the most about Lucy. According to Collins, she gets a boo-boo every day.
  • "Tash it!" (chocolate; loves pudding these days)
  • "Fiss it, Mommy" (fix it)
  • "P-dule" (preschool)
  • One morning he was whining in the car so I said, "Collins, count the trees." (We were going 50 mph, so I was just being mean.) He said, "One, two three...one, two, three...BUNCH!"
  • MawMaw has been telling him the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I love how he says Goldilocks' name: "GO Blocks"! hahaha
  • "Han me dat!"
  • The blessing they say at preschool is, "God our Father, once again, we would like to thank you, amen." It sounds like Collins is saying, "ottoman" at the end! haha
  • "I-ouch" SUCH a Southerner when he says "ouch!" He really does think it's two words.
  • The other day I was holding him while I stepped inside the bathroom to blow my nose. He patted me on the back, leaned over, and said, "Bess it hawart, Mommy." Precious!

Happy Birthday, Collins! We love you so much and are very proud of you!
